Apple's Vision Pro, the much-anticipated headset for spatial computing (let's not call it "virtual reality"), is now available for preorders, and a lucky few have had the chance to try it out. However, keen observers have noticed that Apple seems to be slyly concealing a not-so-sleek feature of the device: its rather sizable battery pack.
Wired pointed out that in the photos released so far, Apple has strategically hidden the bulky battery pack, perhaps to maintain the sleek appearance of the headset. Despite this attempt, Belkin has stepped in to address the situation by creating a belt holster specifically designed for the Vision Pro's hefty battery pack – adding a touch of humor with a casual "lol."
The battery pack, as per Apple's specifications, provides 2 hours of general use before requiring a wall plug-in. Alternatively, users can keep it plugged in for all-day usage. Examining the battery's appearance, it appears to be slightly slimmer and smaller than a standard iPhone, judging by the size of the USB-C charging port.
It's worth noting that all the demos of the Vision Pro thus far have featured people seated, leaving much unknown about how users will engage with the device in different scenarios. As Joanna Goode pointed out, the extent to which users will stand up or move around while using the headset remains uncertain.
Fortunately, accessory solutions are already emerging. Apple offers a $49 Belkin case designed to clip onto your belt, providing a convenient and stylish solution for carrying the Vision Pro's battery pack. As excitement builds around the Vision Pro, these practical accessories are poised to enhance the overall user experience.
